But they kept on shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!”

save yourself and come down from the cross!”

He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross!

Now, brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

and to reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by which the hostility has been killed.

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

and saying, “You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are God’s Son, come down from the cross!”

and through him to reconcile all things to himself by making peace through the blood of his cross – through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Then, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies should not stay on the crosses on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was an especially important one), the Jewish leaders asked Pilate to have the victims’ legs broken and the bodies taken down.
