How can I curse one whom God has not cursed, or how can I denounce one whom the Lord has not denounced?

God is a just judge; he is angry throughout the day.

The mouth of an adulteress is like a deep pit; the one against whom the Lord is angry will fall into it.

The one who says to the guilty, “You are innocent,” peoples will curse him, and nations will denounce him.

The north wind brings forth rain, and a gossiping tongue brings forth an angry look.

“I will not overlook, O sinful house, the dishonest gain you have hoarded away, or the smaller-than-standard measure I hate so much.

Then Balaam uttered his oracle, saying, “Balak, the king of Moab, brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, ‘Come, pronounce a curse on Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel.’

When you see this, you will be happy, and you will be revived. The Lord will reveal his power to his servants and his anger to his enemies.

The ships of Kittim will come against him, leaving him disheartened. He will turn back and direct his indignation against the holy covenant. He will return and honor those who forsake the holy covenant.

The angel of the Lord then asked, “Lord who rules over all, how long before you have compassion on Jerusalem and the other cities of Judah which you have been so angry with for these seventy years?”

Edom says, “Though we are devastated, we will once again build the ruined places.” So the Lord who rules over all responds, “They indeed may build, but I will overthrow. They will be known as the land of evil, the people with whom the Lord is permanently displeased.
