So Joab got up and went to Geshur and brought Absalom back to Jerusalem.

So David’s friend Hushai arrived in the city, just as Absalom was entering Jerusalem.

These are the names of children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

David took the golden shields that belonged to Hadadezer’s servants and brought them to Jerusalem.

Absalom lived in Jerusalem for two years without seeing the king’s face.

So Zadok and Abiathar took the ark of God back to Jerusalem and remained there.

Now when Absalom and all the men of Israel arrived in Jerusalem, Ahithophel was with him.

So the king said to Barzillai, “Cross over with me, and I will take care of you while you are with me in Jerusalem.”

They went through all the land and after nine months and twenty days came back to Jerusalem.

In Hebron he reigned over Judah for seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned for thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.

David married more concubines and wives from Jerusalem after he arrived from Hebron. Even more sons and daughters were born to David.

Mephibosheth was living in Jerusalem, for he was a regular guest at the king’s table. But both his feet were crippled.

When the Ammonites saw the Arameans flee, they fled before his brother Abishai and went into the city. Joab withdrew from fighting the Ammonites and returned to Jerusalem.

So David said to Uriah, “Stay here another day. Tomorrow I will send you back.” So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem both that day and the following one.

For I made this vow when I was living in Geshur in Aram: ‘If the Lord really does allow me to return to Jerusalem, I will serve the Lord.’”

Now two hundred men had gone with Absalom from Jerusalem. Since they were invited, they went naively and were unaware of what Absalom was planning.

When he came from Jerusalem to meet the king, the king asked him, “Why didn’t you go with me, Mephibosheth?”

Barzillai replied to the king, “How many days do I have left to my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

So all the men of Israel deserted David and followed Sheba son of Bicri. But the men of Judah stuck by their king all the way from the Jordan River to Jerusalem.

So Joab’s men, accompanied by the Kerethites, the Pelethites, and all the warriors, left Jerusalem to pursue Sheba son of Bicri.
