For a long time Israel had no true God, or priest to instruct them, or law.

They were unable to observe it at the regular time because not enough priests had consecrated themselves and the people had not assembled in Jerusalem.

However, the high places were not eliminated; the people were still not devoted to the God of their ancestors.

Now King Solomon and all the Israelites who had assembled with him went on ahead of the ark and sacrificed more sheep and cattle than could be counted or numbered.

Solomon answered all her questions; there was no question too complex for the king.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you he does not prophesy prosperity for me, but disaster?”

However, he did not execute their sons. He obeyed the Lord’s commandment as recorded in the law scroll of Moses, “Fathers must not be executed for what their sons do, and sons must not be executed for what their fathers do. A man must be executed only for his own sin.”

Solomon made so many of these items they did not weigh the bronze.

They did not neglect any detail of the king’s orders pertaining to the priests, Levites, and treasuries.

He did evil because he was not determined to follow the Lord.

But as for us, the Lord is our God and we have not rejected him. Aaron’s descendants serve as the Lord’s priests and the Levites assist them with the work.

Jeroboam did not regain power during the reign of Abijah. The Lord struck him down and he died.

The high places were not eliminated from Israel, yet Asa was wholeheartedly devoted to the Lord throughout his lifetime.

There was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.

but instead sought the God of his ancestors and obeyed his commands, unlike the Israelites.
