Azariah son of Nathan was supervisor of the district governors. Zabud son of Nathan was a priest and adviser to the king.

But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the elite warriors, or his brother Solomon.

So Hiram supplied the cedars and evergreens Solomon needed,

He put one in Bethel and the other in Dan.

Obadiah said, “What sin have I committed that you are ready to hand your servant over to Ahab for execution?

King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba everything she requested, besides what he had freely offered her. Then she left and returned to her homeland with her attendants.

The king was told, “Nathan the prophet is here.” Nathan entered and bowed before the king with his face to the floor.

Nathan said, “My master, O king, did you announce, ‘Adonijah will be king after me; he will sit on my throne’?

and said this: ‘The Lord God of Israel is worthy of praise because today he has placed a successor on my throne and allowed me to see it.’”

The king appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada to take his place at the head of the army, and the king appointed Zadok the priest to take Abiathar’s place.

So the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as he had promised him. And Hiram and Solomon were at peace and made a treaty.

When Hiram went out from Tyre to inspect the cities Solomon had given him, he was not pleased with them.

Solomon did not assign Israelites to these work crews; the Israelites served as his soldiers, attendants, officers, charioteers, and commanders of his chariot forces.

Everyone in the world wanted to visit Solomon to see him display his God-given wisdom.

The king made silver as plentiful in Jerusalem as stones; cedar was as plentiful as sycamore fig trees are in the lowlands.

“Your father made us work too hard. Now if you lighten the demands he made and don’t make us work as hard, we will serve you.”

The altar split open and the ashes fell from the altar to the ground, in fulfillment of the sign the prophet had announced with the Lord’s authority.

Nevertheless for David’s sake the Lord his God maintained his dynasty in Jerusalem by giving him a son to succeed him and by protecting Jerusalem.

So now, look, the Lord has placed a lying spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours; but the Lord has decreed disaster for you.”

Nathan said to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother, “Has it been reported to you that Haggith’s son Adonijah has become king behind our master David’s back?
