As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king –

to deprive a person of his rights in the presence of the Most High,

Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that everything comes – both calamity and blessing?

I will thank the Lord for his justice; I will sing praises to the sovereign Lord!

I will be happy and rejoice in you! I will sing praises to you, O sovereign One!

I cry out for help to the sovereign God, to the God who vindicates me.

Then I said, “I am sickened by the thought that the sovereign One might become inactive.

Yet they continued to sin against him, and rebelled against the sovereign One in the desert.

They remembered that God was their protector, and that the sovereign God was their deliverer.

Yet they challenged and defied the sovereign God, and did not obey his commands.

I thought, ‘You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.’

I will appoint him to be my firstborn son, the most exalted of the earth’s kings.

For you have taken refuge in the Lord, my shelter, the sovereign One.

because they had rebelled against God’s commands, and rejected the instructions of the sovereign king.

Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (Now he was the priest of the Most High God.)

He blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth.

Worthy of praise is the Most High God, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything.

When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided up humankind, he set the boundaries of the peoples, according to the number of the heavenly assembly.

For the king trusts in the Lord, and because of the sovereign Lord’s faithfulness he is not upended.

The river’s channels bring joy to the city of God, the special, holy dwelling place of the sovereign One.
