The descendants of Gad lived near them in the land of Bashan, as far as Salecah.

The Lord told Gad, David’s prophet,

So David went up as Gad instructed him to do in the name of the Lord.

Within the territory of the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead and its pasturelands, Mahanaim and its pasturelands,

These Gadites were military leaders; the least led a hundred men, the greatest a thousand.

The clans of Merari’s descendants were allotted twelve cities within the territory of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

So the Lord’s messenger told Gad to instruct David to go up and build an altar for the Lord on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

David said to Gad, “I am very upset! I prefer to be attacked by the Lord, for his mercy is very great; I do not want to be attacked by men!”
