So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been mentioned specifically by name,

“‘Then the priest will write these curses on a scroll and then scrape them off into the bitter water.

When Moses told these things to all the Israelites, the people mourned greatly.

When he had finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split open,

And God came to Balaam and said, “Who are these men with you?”

then the community must judge between the slayer and the avenger of blood according to these decisions.

and this water that causes the curse will go into your stomach, and make your abdomen swell and your thigh rot.” Then the woman must say, “Amen, amen.”

“‘If you sin unintentionally and do not observe all these commandments that the Lord has spoken to Moses –

Then Moses said, “This is how you will know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I have not done them of my own will.

So Israel took all these cities; and Israel settled in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages.

These six towns will be places of refuge for the Israelites, and for the foreigner, and for the settler among them, so that anyone who kills any person accidentally may flee there.

Then the priest will put the woman under oath and say to the her, “If no other man has had sexual relations with you, and if you have not gone astray and become defiled while under your husband’s authority, may you be free from this bitter water that brings a curse.

Then the priest will put the woman under the oath of the curse and will say to the her, “The Lord make you an attested curse among your people, if the Lord makes your thigh fall away and your abdomen swell;

And he said to the community, “Move away from the tents of these wicked men, and do not touch anything they have, lest you be destroyed because of all their sins.”

But if the Lord does something entirely new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up along with all that they have, and they go down alive to the grave, then you will know that these men have despised the Lord!”

As for the censers of these men who sinned at the cost of their lives, they must be made into hammered sheets for covering the altar, because they presented them before the Lord and sanctified them. They will become a sign to the Israelites.”
