It was reported to Saul saying, “David is at Naioth in Ramah.”

Now look! Here is the king you have chosen – the one that you asked for! Look, the Lord has given you a king!

Jonathan replied, “All right! We’ll go over to these men and fight them.

Then Saul’s servants said to him, “Look, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you!”

But if I say to the boy, “Look, the arrows are on the other side of you,’ get away. For in that case the Lord has sent you away.

They told David, “The Philistines are fighting in Keilah and are looting the threshing floors.”

Now look, I realize that you will in fact be king and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hand.

David replied, “Here is the king’s spear! Let one of your servants cross over and get it.

Don’t consider your servant a wicked woman, for until now I have spoken from my deep pain and anguish.”

In fact, days are coming when I will remove your strength and the strength of your father’s house. There will not be an old man in your house!

The Lord said to Samuel, “Look! I am about to do something in Israel; when anyone hears about it, both of his ears will tingle.

They said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons don’t follow your ways. So now appoint over us a king to lead us, just like all the other nations have.”

They replied, “Yes, straight ahead! But hurry now, for he came to the town today, and the people are making a sacrifice at the high place.

When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said, “Here is the man that I told you about! He will rule over my people.”

So they inquired again of the Lord, “Has the man arrived here yet?” The Lord said, “He has hidden himself among the equipment.”

Samuel said to all Israel, “I have done everything you requested. I have given you a king.

Now look! This king walks before you. As for me, I am old and gray, though my sons are here with you. I have walked before you from the time of my youth till the present day.

When they made themselves known to the Philistine garrison, the Philistines said, “Look! The Hebrews are coming out of the holes in which they hid themselves.”
