“In what direction does light reside, and darkness, where is its place,

If I am guilty, why then weary myself in vain?

This is the Lord’s gate – the godly enter through it.

So Esther called for Hathach, one of the king’s eunuchs who had been placed at her service, and instructed him to find out the cause and reason for Mordecai’s behavior.

Then King Ahasuerus responded to Queen Esther, “Who is this individual? Where is this person to be found who is presumptuous enough to act in this way?”

They called out to one another, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord who commands armies! His majestic splendor fills the entire earth!”

At that time they will say, “Look, here is our God! We waited for him and he delivered us. Here is the Lord! We waited for him. Let’s rejoice and celebrate his deliverance!”

Who is this who comes from Edom, dressed in bright red, coming from Bozrah? Who is this one wearing royal attire, who marches confidently because of his great strength? “It is I, the one who announces vindication, and who is able to deliver!”

This is what the Lord says: “The heavens are my throne and the earth is my footstool. Where then is the house you will build for me? Where is the place where I will rest?

Then he asked, “Are you really my son Esau?” “I am,” Jacob replied.

But if we had not delayed, we could have traveled there and back twice by now!”

The Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A staff.”

Now this is what we will do to Gibeah: We will attack the city as the lot dictates.

The king said, “Find out whose son this boy is!”

When the messengers returned to the king, he asked them, “Why have you returned?”

These ten times you have been reproaching me; you are not ashamed to attack me!

Such is the lot God allots the wicked, and the heritage of his appointment from God.”

“One man dies in his full vigor, completely secure and prosperous,

If you yourselves have all seen this, Why in the world do you continue this meaningless talk?

“But wisdom – where can it be found? Where is the place of understanding?
