He draws up drops of water; they distill the rain into its mist,

A poor person who oppresses the weak is like a driving rain without food.

then he promises, “I will send rain for your land in its season, the autumn and the spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine, and olive oil.

he gives rain on the earth, and sends water on the fields;

For to the snow he says, ‘Fall to earth,’ and to the torrential rains, ‘Pour down.’

He covers the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides.

The Lord will make the rain of your land powder and dust; it will come down on you from the sky until you are destroyed.

When I close up the sky so that it doesn’t rain, or command locusts to devour the land’s vegetation, or send a plague among my people,

I will make it a wasteland; no one will prune its vines or hoe its ground, and thorns and briers will grow there. I will order the clouds not to drop any rain on it.

Ask the Lord for rain in the season of the late spring rains – the Lord who causes thunderstorms – and he will give everyone showers of rain and green growth in the field.
