The deep says, ‘It is not with me.’ And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’

“Let the day on which I was born perish, and the night that said, ‘A man has been conceived!’

For Job says, ‘I am innocent, but God turns away my right.

For he says, ‘It does not profit a man when he makes his delight with God.’

But no one says, ‘Where is God, my Creator, who gives songs in the night,

Who has prescribed his ways for him? Or said to him, ‘You have done what is wicked’?

I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me; tell me why you are contending with me.’

Should he be informed that I want to speak? If a man speaks, surely he would be swallowed up!

When the days of their feasting were finished, Job would send for them and sanctify them; he would get up early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job thought, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s customary practice.
