God said to Noah and his sons,

Abram bowed down with his face to the ground, and God said to him,

The sons of Heth answered Abraham,

Then the Lord God commanded the man, “You may freely eat fruit from every tree of the orchard,

So Sarah laughed to herself, thinking, “After I am worn out will I have pleasure, especially when my husband is old too?”

Then Sarah lied, saying, “I did not laugh,” because she was afraid. But the Lord said, “No! You did laugh.”

Then Abraham got up from mourning his dead wife and said to the sons of Heth,

So Abimelech commanded all the people, “Whoever touches this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”

She named him Joseph, saying, “May the Lord give me yet another son.”

Shechem said to his father Hamor, “Acquire this young girl as my wife.”

So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city and spoke to the men of their city,

When Joseph reached Shechem, a man found him wandering in the field, so the man asked him, “What are you looking for?”

Tamar was told, “Look, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep.”
