They said, “An Egyptian man rescued us from the shepherds, and he actually drew water for us and watered the flock!”

But the Israelites said to the Lord, “We have sinned. You do to us as you see fit, but deliver us today!”

Then they cried out to the Lord and admitted, ‘We have sinned, for we have forsaken the Lord and have served the Baals and the images of Ashtoreth. Now deliver us from the hand of our enemies so that we may serve you.’

All the people throughout all the tribes of Israel were arguing among themselves saying, “The king delivered us from the hand of our enemies. He rescued us from the hand of the Philistines, but now he has fled from the land because of Absalom.
