But Moses said before the Lord, “Since I speak with difficulty, why should Pharaoh listen to me?”

The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.

The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God.

And now indeed the cry of the Israelites has come to me, and I have also seen how severely the Egyptians oppress them.

But Moses replied to the Lord, “If the Israelites did not listen to me, then how will Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with difficulty?”

When they have a dispute, it comes to me and I decide between a man and his neighbor, and I make known the decrees of God and his laws.”

‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and how I lifted you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.

If you afflict them in any way and they cry to me, I will surely hear their cry,

So Aaron said to them, “Break off the gold earrings that are on the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.”

So Moses stood at the entrance of the camp and said, “Whoever is for the Lord, come to me.” All the Levites gathered around him,

“Go and bring together the elders of Israel and tell them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, appeared to me – the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – saying, “I have attended carefully to you and to what has been done to you in Egypt,

All these your servants will come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Go, you and all the people who follow you,’ and after that I will go out.” Then Moses went out from Pharaoh in great anger.

for it is his only covering – it is his garment for his body. What else can he sleep in? And when he cries out to me, I will hear, for I am gracious.

The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me to the mountain and remain there, and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commandments that I have written, so that you may teach them.”

Moses said to the Lord, “See, you have been saying to me, ‘Bring this people up,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. But you said, ‘I know you by name, and also you have found favor in my sight.’
