Once he had removed Amasa from the path, everyone followed Joab to pursue Sheba son of Bicri.

Later the king of the Ammonites died and his son Hanun succeeded him.

Then a messenger came to David and reported, “The men of Israel are loyal to Absalom!”

After the death of Saul, when David had returned from defeating the Amalekites, he stayed at Ziklag for two days.

Asahel chased Abner, without turning to the right or to the left as he followed Abner.

The Benjaminites formed their ranks behind Abner and were like a single army, standing at the top of a certain hill.

Then Joab blew the ram’s horn and all the people stopped in their tracks. They stopped chasing Israel and ceased fighting.

Then Joab left David and sent messengers after Abner. They brought him back from the well of Sirah. (But David was not aware of it.)

David married more concubines and wives from Jerusalem after he arrived from Hebron. Even more sons and daughters were born to David.

Later David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. David took Metheg Ammah from the Philistines.

Now David’s son Absalom had a beautiful sister named Tamar. In the course of time David’s son Amnon fell madly in love with her.

Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Let me pick out twelve thousand men. Then I will go and pursue David this very night.

Then Joab blew the trumpet and the army turned back from chasing Israel, for Joab had called for the army to halt.

Mephibosheth said to the king, “Let him have the whole thing! My lord the king has returned safely to his house!”

So all the men of Israel deserted David and followed Sheba son of Bicri. But the men of Judah stuck by their king all the way from the Jordan River to Jerusalem.

So Joab’s men, accompanied by the Kerethites, the Pelethites, and all the warriors, left Jerusalem to pursue Sheba son of Bicri.

One of Joab’s soldiers who stood over Amasa said, “Whoever is for Joab and whoever is for David, follow Joab!”

Later there was another battle with the Philistines, this time in Gob. On that occasion Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was one of the descendants of Rapha.

So I stood over him and put him to death, since I knew that he couldn’t live in such a condition. Then I took the crown which was on his head and the bracelet which was on his arm. I have brought them here to my lord.”

Afterward David inquired of the Lord, “Should I go up to one of the cities of Judah?” The Lord told him, “Go up.” David asked, “Where should I go?” The Lord replied, “To Hebron.”
