And that you visit them every morning, and try them every moment?

For all of them, the morning is to them like deep darkness; they are friends with the terrors of darkness.

He strikes them for their wickedness, in a place where people can see,

to whom alone the land was given when no foreigner passed among them.

The righteous see their destruction and rejoice; the innocent mock them scornfully, saying,

For she leaves her eggs on the ground, and lets them be warmed on the soil.

each one is so close to the next that no air can come between them.

“What is mankind that you make so much of them, and that you pay attention to them?

“How often is the lamp of the wicked extinguished? How often does their misfortune come upon them? How often does God apportion pain to them in his anger?

Together they lie down in the dust, and worms cover over them both.
