When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said, “Lord, should we use our swords?”

And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by how you use worldly wealth, so that when it runs out you will be welcomed into the eternal homes.

Give, and it will be given to you: A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be poured into your lap. For the measure you use will be the measure you receive.”

So he said to the worker who tended the vineyard, ‘For three years now, I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and each time I inspect it I find none. Cut it down! Why should it continue to deplete the soil?’

bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

So Jesus told them this parable:

plotting against him, to catch him in something he might say.

It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of flour until all the dough had risen.”

If then you haven’t been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will entrust you with the true riches?

And in this way, with many other exhortations, John proclaimed good news to the people.

It is of no value for the soil or for the manure pile; it is to be thrown out. The one who has ears to hear had better listen!”

like the accounts passed on to us by those who were eyewitnesses and servants of the word from the beginning.

“Woe to you when all people speak well of you, for their ancestors did the same things to the false prophets.

So if you cannot do such a very little thing as this, why do you worry about the rest?

“Salt is good, but if salt loses its flavor, how can its flavor be restored?

And if you haven’t been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you your own?

“And look, your relative Elizabeth has also become pregnant with a son in her old age – although she was called barren, she is now in her sixth month!
