You are destructive like water and will not excel, for you got on your father’s bed, then you defiled it – he got on my couch!

But Joseph answered them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God?

Make the work harder for the men so they will keep at it and pay no attention to lying words!”

Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.”

He said to the people, “Be ready for the third day. Do not go near your wives.”

“You must not give a false report. Do not make common cause with the wicked to be a malicious witness.

Keep your distance from a false charge – do not kill the innocent and the righteous, for I will not justify the wicked.

And Moses said to him, “If your presence does not go with us, do not take us up from here.

Do not make yourselves detestable by any of the swarming things. You must not defile yourselves by them and become unclean by them,

Do not turn to idols, and you must not make for yourselves gods of cast metal. I am the Lord your God.

Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, so that the land does not practice prostitution and become full of lewdness.

Do not take interest or profit from him, but you must fear your God and your brother must live with you.

Do not let her be like a baby born dead, whose flesh is half-consumed when it comes out of its mother’s womb!”

Do not go up, for the Lord is not among you, and you will be defeated before your enemies.

This ought not to be, my sons! For the report that I hear circulating among the Lord’s people is not good.

All the leaders and people said to him, “Do not give in or agree to his demands.”

The king of Israel replied, “Tell him the one who puts on his battle gear should not boast like one who is taking it off.”

When they came back, Elisha was staying in Jericho. He said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go’?”

He replied, “Don’t be afraid, for our side outnumbers them.”
