Then the Lord spoke to Moses:

He must not defile himself even for his father or his mother or his brother or his sister if they die, because the separation for his God is on his head.

and whether the land they live in is good or bad, and whether the cities they inhabit are like camps or fortified cities,

They told Moses, “We went to the land where you sent us. It is indeed flowing with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

The men whom Moses sent to investigate the land, who returned and made the whole community murmur against him by producing an evil report about the land,

The Lord spoke to Moses:

“‘Every native-born person must do these things in this way to present an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

You must have one law for the person who sins unintentionally, both for the native-born among the Israelites and for the resident foreigner who lives among them.

So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers presented by those who had been burned up, and they were hammered out as a covering for the altar.

The Lord said to Moses, “Make a poisonous snake and set it on a pole. When anyone who is bitten looks at it, he will live.”

And from there they traveled to Beer; that is the well where the Lord spoke to Moses, “Gather the people and I will give them water.”

And Balaam said to the donkey, “You have made me look stupid; I wish there were a sword in my hand, for I would kill you right now.”

But you must offer as the burnt offering, as a sweet aroma to the Lord, two young bulls, one ram, seven lambs one year old,

“But if he hits someone with an iron tool so that he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer must surely be put to death.

the Lord said to me,

As for the Avvites who lived in settlements as far west as Gaza, Caphtorites who came from Crete destroyed them and settled down in their place.)

(for he is a merciful God), he will not let you down or destroy you, for he cannot forget the covenant with your ancestors that he confirmed by oath to them.

Furthermore, he must not marry many wives lest his affections turn aside, and he must not accumulate much silver and gold.

So the Lord has uprooted them from their land in anger, wrath, and great rage and has deported them to another land, as is clear today.”
