All the days of his separation he must not eat anything that is produced by the grapevine, from seed to skin.

Then the priest will offer one for a purification offering and the other as a burnt offering, and make atonement for him, because of his transgression in regard to the corpse. So he must reconsecrate his head on that day.

And Aaron did so; he set up the lamps to face toward the front of the lampstand, as the Lord commanded Moses.

“This is what pertains to the Levites: At the age of twenty-five years and upward one may begin to join the company in the work of the tent of meeting,

At the commandment of the Lord the Israelites would begin their journey, and at the commandment of the Lord they would make camp; as long as the cloud remained settled over the tabernacle they would camp.

When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a number of days, they remained camped according to the Lord’s commandment, and according to the Lord’s commandment they would journey.

And when the cloud remained only from evening until morning, when the cloud was taken up the following morning, then they traveled on. Whether by day or by night, when the cloud was taken up they traveled.

And if you come with us, it is certain that whatever good things the Lord will favor us with, we will share with you as well.”

Now the mixed multitude who were among them craved more desirable foods, and so the Israelites wept again and said, “If only we had meat to eat!

We remember the fish we used to eat freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.

Moses said, “The people around me are 600,000 on foot; but you say, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month.’

Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman he had married (for he had married an Ethiopian woman).

These are the names of the men whom Moses sent to investigate the land. And Moses gave Hoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.

That place was called the Eshcol Valley, because of the cluster of grapes that the Israelites cut from there.

They told Moses, “We went to the land where you sent us. It is indeed flowing with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against these people, because they are stronger than we are!”

They said to the whole community of the Israelites, “The land we passed through to investigate is an exceedingly good land.

If the Lord delights in us, then he will bring us into this land and give it to us – a land that is flowing with milk and honey.

If you kill this entire people at once, then the nations that have heard of your fame will say,

‘Because the Lord was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to them, he killed them in the wilderness.’
