When the slave girl saw him, she began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.”

So the soldiers led him into the palace (that is, the governor’s residence) and called together the whole cohort.

They said to her, “But none of your relatives bears this name.”

He asked for a writing tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they were all amazed.

And he added, “I tell you the truth, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.

Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’?

No one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”

A disciple is not greater than his teacher, but everyone when fully trained will be like his teacher.

“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit,

But those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”

But the expert, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the best part; it will not be taken away from her.”

When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his possessions are safe.

Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

Nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing is secret that will not be made known.

Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.

Thus Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? To what should I compare it?

It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of flour until all the dough had risen.”

Then the slave said, ‘Sir, what you instructed has been done, and there is still room.’

It is of no value for the soil or for the manure pile; it is to be thrown out. The one who has ears to hear had better listen!”
