The father went to the other son and said the same thing. This boy answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but did not go.

For this reason I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.

“Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and will kill you. You will be hated by all the nations because of my name.

‘No,’ they replied. ‘There won’t be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!

When Jesus learned of this, he said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a good service for me.

I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

Now on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”

Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He said to Peter, “So, couldn’t you stay awake with me for one hour?

and declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

Then the high priest tore his clothes and declared, “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? Now you have heard the blasphemy!

Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

So after they had assembled, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Christ?”

The governor asked them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas!”

“He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the king of Israel! If he comes down now from the cross, we will believe in him!

But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

Then Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Now a leper came to him and fell to his knees, asking for help. “If you are willing, you can make me clean,” he said.
