so that his life loathes food, and his soul rejects appetizing fare.

“Listen to my words, you wise men; hear me, you learned men.

What man is like Job, who drinks derision like water!

so that the godless man should not rule, and not lay snares for the people.

that Job speaks without knowledge and his words are without understanding.

So Job opens his mouth to no purpose; without knowledge he multiplies words.”

And he reveals this for correction, and says that they must turn from evil.

which the clouds pour down and shower on humankind abundantly.

“Who is this who darkens counsel with words without knowledge?

On what were its bases set, or who laid its cornerstone –

when I made the storm clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band,

Who has put wisdom in the heart, or has imparted understanding to the mind?

For she leaves her eggs on the ground, and lets them be warmed on the soil.

Do you have an arm as powerful as God’s, and can you thunder with a voice like his?

They lock tightly together, one to the next; they cling together and cannot be separated.

Its heart is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone.

The one enthroned in heaven laughs in disgust; the Lord taunts them.

The Lord delivers; you show favor to your people. (Selah)

God is a just judge; he is angry throughout the day.

O Lord, our Lord, how magnificent is your reputation throughout the earth!
