And again another scripture says, “They will look on the one whom they have pierced.”

Then Peter and the other disciple set out to go to the tomb.

(For they did not yet understand the scripture that Jesus must rise from the dead.)

On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the disciples had gathered together and locked the doors of the place because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

And after he said this, he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

until the day he was taken up to heaven, after he had given orders by the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.

So they proposed two candidates: Joseph called Barsabbas (also called Justus) and Matthias.

But others jeered at the speakers, saying, “They are drunk on new wine!”

And then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

This Jesus God raised up, and we are all witnesses of it.

until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’

All the people saw him walking and praising God,

if we are being examined today for a good deed done to a sick man – by what means this man was healed –

for it is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard.”

So the young men came, wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.

They laid hands on the apostles and put them in a public jail.

until another king who did not know about Joseph ruled over Egypt.

You don’t want to kill me the way you killed the Egyptian yesterday, do you?’

And they paid close attention to him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic.

These two went down and prayed for them so that they would receive the Holy Spirit.
