Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but he was born blind so that the acts of God may be revealed through what happens to him.

Then the neighbors and the people who had seen him previously as a beggar began saying, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?”

Some people said, “This is the man!” while others said, “No, but he looks like him.” The man himself kept insisting, “I am the one!”

They asked the parents, “Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? Then how does he now see?”

So his parents replied, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.

Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.

So the chief priests and the Pharisees called the council together and said, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many miraculous signs.

So these approached Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and requested, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.”

Now this is eternal life – that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent.

Righteous Father, even if the world does not know you, I know you, and these men know that you sent me.

Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard what I said. They know what I said.”

This is the disciple who testifies about these things and has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.

All these continued together in prayer with one mind, together with the women, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty people) and said,

(Now this man Judas acquired a field with the reward of his unjust deed, and falling headfirst he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.

to assume the task of this service and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.”

When this sound occurred, a crowd gathered and was in confusion, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.

With many other words he testified and exhorted them saying, “Save yourselves from this perverse generation!”

But carefully select from among you, brothers, seven men who are well-attested, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this necessary task.

They brought forward false witnesses who said, “This man does not stop saying things against this holy place and the law.
