Now my father David had a strong desire to build a temple to honor the Lord God of Israel.

When the queen of Sheba heard about Solomon, she came to challenge him with difficult questions.

He ruled for three years in Jerusalem. His mother was Maacah, the daughter of Abishalom.

He ruled for forty-one years in Jerusalem. His grandmother was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.

He built altars in the Lord’s temple, about which the Lord had said, “Jerusalem will be my home.”

The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, king in Jehoiachin’s place. He renamed him Zedekiah.

Jerahmeel had another wife named Atarah; she was Onam’s mother.

Abishur’s wife was Abihail, who bore him Ahban and Molid.

Sheshan had no sons, only daughters. Sheshan had an Egyptian servant named Jarha.

These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. Their sister was Hazzelelponi.

Jabez was more respected than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, for she said, “I experienced pain when I gave birth to him.”

These who are named above were the leaders of their clans. Their extended families increased greatly in numbers.

Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who gained fame along with the three elite warriors.

These are the names of children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

So David became famous in all the lands; the Lord caused all the nations to fear him.

When David finished offering burnt sacrifices and peace offerings, he pronounced a blessing over the people in the Lord’s name.

Ascribe to the Lord the splendor he deserves! Bring an offering and enter his presence! Worship the Lord in holy attire!

(1:18) Solomon ordered a temple to be built to honor the Lord, as well as a royal palace for himself.

But now I have chosen Jerusalem as a place to live, and I have chosen David to lead my people Israel.’
