Jesus answered them, “Go tell John what you hear and see:

What did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Then the disciples came to him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”

Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds; he did not speak to them without a parable.

Then John’s disciples came and took the body and buried it and went and told Jesus.

When the disciples saw him walking on the water they were terrified and said, “It’s a ghost!” and cried out with fear.

“Yes, Lord,” she replied, “but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

When they came to the crowd, a man came to him, knelt before him,

But he refused. Instead, he went out and threw him in prison until he repaid the debt.

Then Peter said to him, “Look, we have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”

And after agreeing with the workers for the standard wage, he sent them into his vineyard.

He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and I will give you whatever is right.’

As he entered Jerusalem the whole city was thrown into an uproar, saying, “Who is this?”

The blind and lame came to him in the temple courts, and he healed them.

Then he said to his slaves, ‘The wedding is ready, but the ones who had been invited were not worthy.

Tell us then, what do you think? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

No one was able to answer him a word, and from that day on no one dared to question him any longer.

But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher and you are all brothers.

And call no one your ‘father’ on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.
