Jesus answered them, “You are deceived, because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God.

And the king will answer them, ‘I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me.’

Then he will answer them, ‘I tell you the truth, just as you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for me.’

When Jesus learned of this, he said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a good service for me.

(Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I kiss is the man. Arrest him!”)

So after they had assembled, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Christ?”

The governor asked them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas!”

Then Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Now immediately, when Jesus realized in his spirit that they were contemplating such thoughts, he said to them, “Why are you thinking such things in your hearts?

He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry –

Then he said to them, “Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath, or evil, to save a life or destroy it?” But they were silent.

to James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee, he gave the name Boanerges (that is, “sons of thunder”);

He said to them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those outside, everything is in parables,

so that although they look they may look but not see, and although they hear they may hear but not understand, so they may not repent and be forgiven.”

He also said to them, “A lamp isn’t brought to be put under a basket or under a bed, is it? Isn’t it to be placed on a lampstand?

And he said to them, “Take care about what you hear. The measure you use will be the measure you receive, and more will be added to you.

Jesus called the twelve and began to send them out two by two. He gave them authority over the unclean spirits.

He instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a staff – no bread, no bag, no money in their belts –

He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five – and two fish.”

for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them: “Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”
