When Leah saw that she had stopped having children, she gave her servant Zilpah to Jacob as a wife.

Let me take my wives and my children whom I have acquired by working for you. Then I’ll depart, because you know how hard I’ve worked for you.”

He instructed the servant leading the first herd, “When my brother Esau meets you and asks, ‘To whom do you belong? Where are you going? Whose herds are you driving?’

But Hamor made this appeal to them: “My son Shechem is in love with your daughter. Please give her to him as his wife.

You are to hang it with gold hooks on four posts of acacia wood overlaid with gold, set in four silver bases.

Aaron said, “Do not let your anger burn hot, my lord; you know these people, that they tend to evil.

Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go up among you, for you are a stiff-necked people, and I might destroy you on the way.”

Be careful not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it become a snare among you.
