While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from one town after another, he spoke to them in a parable:

After Jesus called the twelve together, he gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases,

Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to my family.”

so that this generation may be held accountable for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world,

And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and there is.

Jesus said to his disciples, “Stumbling blocks are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come!

Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart.

Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this household, because he too is a son of Abraham!

For it will overtake all who live on the face of the whole earth.

And Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Now because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began persecuting him.

So he told them, “My Father is working until now, and I too am working.”

Jesus went back across the Jordan River again to the place where John had been baptizing at an earlier time, and he stayed there.

But when he was about forty years old, it entered his mind to visit his fellow countrymen the Israelites.

As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people were urging them to speak about these things on the next Sabbath.

On the next Sabbath almost the whole city assembled together to hear the word of the Lord.

For Moses has had those who proclaim him in every town from ancient times, because he is read aloud in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

But the evil spirit replied to them, “I know about Jesus and I am acquainted with Paul, but who are you?”

When I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance
