Just then some men showed up, carrying a paralyzed man on a stretcher. They were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.

Then Levi gave a great banquet in his house for Jesus, and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sitting at the table with them.

Jesus answered them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

After looking around at them all, he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” The man did so, and his hand was restored.

Then he looked up at his disciples and said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God belongs to you.

When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his slave.

Now Jesus’ mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not get near him because of the crowd.

Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and the demonic spirits begged Jesus to let them go into them. He gave them permission.

The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,

As he was praying, the appearance of his face was transformed, and his clothes became very bright, a brilliant white.

As he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.

Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him as a guest.

Then he said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,

But Jesus, realizing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is destroyed, and a divided household falls.

Now there were some present on that occasion who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

But the worker answered him, ‘Sir, leave it alone this year too, until I dig around it and put fertilizer on it.

Now one Sabbath when Jesus went to dine at the house of a leader of the Pharisees, they were watching him closely.

Won’t God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay long to help them?

But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to be king over us!’

So Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’
