So Jesus asked the experts in religious law and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”

Then he said to them, “Which of you, if you have a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?”

Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going out to examine them. Please excuse me.’

Jesus also told this parable to some who were confident that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else.

He was trying to get a look at Jesus, but being a short man he could not see over the crowd.
