“Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and puts them into practice – I will show you what he is like:

When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his slave.

When they came to Jesus, they urged him earnestly, “He is worthy to have you do this for him,

When John’s messengers had gone, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

So Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” He replied, “Say it, Teacher.”

Now Jesus’ mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not get near him because of the crowd.

But he replied to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey – no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, and do not take an extra tunic.

Then he said to them all, “If anyone wants to become my follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Then they were all astonished at the mighty power of God.But while the entire crowd was amazed at everything Jesus was doing, he said to his disciples,

Jesus said to another, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he said.

That servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or do what his master asked will receive a severe beating.

So Jesus asked the experts in religious law and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”

Then he said to them, “Which of you, if you have a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?”

So the master said to his slave, ‘Go out to the highways and country roads and urge people to come in, so that my house will be filled.

I will get up and go to my father and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.

Jesus said to his disciples, “Stumbling blocks are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come!

Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times returns to you saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”

Then he said to the disciples, “The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
