The locusts were not given permission to kill them, but only to torture them for five months, and their torture was like that of a scorpion when it stings a person.

So the beast opened his mouth to blaspheme against God – to blaspheme both his name and his dwelling place, that is, those who dwell in heaven.

The beast was permitted to go to war against the saints and conquer them. He was given ruling authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation,

They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their sufferings and because of their sores, but nevertheless they still refused to repent of their deeds.

His eyes are like a fiery flame and there are many diadem crowns on his head. He has a name written that no one knows except himself.

The nations will walk by its light and the kings of the earth will bring their grandeur into it.

And there will no longer be any curse, and the throne of God and the Lamb will be in the city. His servants will worship him,

As they came into the house and saw the child with Mary his mother, they bowed down and worshiped him. They opened their treasure boxes and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Now John wore clothing made from camel’s hair with a leather belt around his waist, and his diet consisted of locusts and wild honey.

Going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. Then he called them.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

And he stood up and went home.

As he was saying these things, a ruler came, bowed low before him, and said, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live.”

As you enter the house, give it greetings.

and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.

Then Jesus left that place and entered their synagogue.

And in his name the Gentiles will hope.”

“Have you understood all these things?” They replied, “Yes.”

Then he came to his hometown and began to teach the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, “Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers?
