But the people of Jerusalem and Judah would not listen or pay any attention. They would not stop the wickedness they were doing nor quit sacrificing to other gods.

Yet in days to come I will reverse Moab’s ill fortune.” says the Lord. The judgment against Moab ends here.

Yet in days to come I will reverse Ammon’s ill fortune.” says the Lord.

“Yet in days to come I will reverse Elam’s ill fortune.” says the Lord.

He said to me, “You will see them practicing even greater abominations!”

He said to me, “Do you see this, son of man? You will see even greater abominations than these!”

Do I actually delight in the death of the wicked, declares the sovereign Lord? Do I not prefer that he turn from his wicked conduct and live?

When a righteous person turns back from his righteousness and practices wrongdoing, he will die for it; because of the wrongdoing he has done, he will die.

When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will preserve his life.

Because he considered and turned from all the sins he had done, he will surely live; he will not die.

For I take no delight in the death of anyone, declares the sovereign Lord. Repent and live!

Return it to its sheath! In the place where you were created, in your native land, I will judge you.
