But Gedaliah son of Ahikam said to Johanan son of Kareah, “Do not do that because what you are saying about Ishmael is not true.”

“Babylon must fall because of the Israelites she has killed, just as the earth’s mortally wounded fell because of Babylon.

They captured him and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the territory of Hamath and he passed sentence on him there.
