So they brought the boy to him. When the spirit saw him, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell on the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.

It has often thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

Then they brought the colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it.

Then Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were utterly amazed at him.

The expert in the law said to him, “That is true, Teacher; you are right to say that he is one, and there is no one else besides him.

Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left on another. All will be torn down!”

“You must watch out for yourselves. You will be handed over to councils and beaten in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them.

Going a little farther, he threw himself to the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour would pass from him.

they will pick up snakes with their hands, and whatever poison they drink will not harm them; they will place their hands on the sick and they will be well.”

And he will go as forerunner before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him.”

because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant. For from now on all generations will call me blessed,

On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they wanted to name him Zechariah after his father.

All their neighbors were filled with fear, and throughout the entire hill country of Judea all these things were talked about.

Now there were shepherds nearby living out in the field, keeping guard over their flock at night.

So the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen; everything was just as they had been told.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed,

And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, yet none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.”

But Jesus said to them, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns too, for that is what I was sent to do.”

Simon answered, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing! But at your word I will lower the nets.”

Just then some men showed up, carrying a paralyzed man on a stretcher. They were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.
