When they saw him walking on the water they thought he was a ghost. They cried out,

Now when Jesus had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable.

His disciples answered him, “Where can someone get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy these people?”

Then they asked him, “Why do the experts in the law say that Elijah must come first?”

and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

Have you not read this scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

In the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife will she be? For all seven had married her.”

They devour widows’ property, and as a show make long prayers. These men will receive a more severe punishment.”

the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

When they heard this, they were delighted and promised to give him money. So Judas began looking for an opportunity to betray him.

You have heard the blasphemy! What is your verdict?” They all condemned him as deserving death.

Pilate asked them, “Why? What has he done wrong?” But they shouted more insistently, “Crucify him!”

So the soldiers led him into the palace (that is, the governor’s residence) and called together the whole cohort.

(Now all the people who heard this, even the tax collectors, acknowledged God’s justice, because they had been baptized with John’s baptism.

But those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”

So he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”

Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them to tell no one what had happened.

They appeared in glorious splendor and spoke about his departure that he was about to carry out at Jerusalem.

But he replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”

Woe to you! You build the tombs of the prophets whom your ancestors killed.
