Then Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”

They said to him, “Permit one of us to sit at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.”

Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied, “Rabbi, let me see again.”

and said, “By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”

At harvest time he sent a slave to the tenants to collect from them his portion of the crop.

But those tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and the inheritance will be ours!’

Now one of the experts in the law came and heard them debating. When he saw that Jesus answered them well, he asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”

The expert in the law said to him, “That is true, Teacher; you are right to say that he is one, and there is no one else besides him.

While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he said, “How is it that the experts in the law say that the Christ is David’s son?

Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left on another. All will be torn down!”

For nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines. These are but the beginning of birth pains.

And if the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would be saved. But because of the elect, whom he chose, he has cut them short.

“But in those days, after that suffering, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light;

For you will always have the poor with you, and you can do good for them whenever you want. But you will not always have me!

I tell you the truth, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, today – this very night – before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”

But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.” And all of them said the same thing.

He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

One of the bystanders drew his sword and struck the high priest’s slave, cutting off his ear.
