Now 14,700 people died in the plague, in addition to those who died in the event with Korah.

So the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and they bit the people; many people of Israel died.

When Israel joined themselves to Baal-peor, the anger of the Lord flared up against Israel.

“But if he strikes him out of hatred or throws something at him intentionally so that he dies,

Then they presented the Israelites with a discouraging report of the land they had investigated, saying, “The land that we passed through to investigate is a land that devours its inhabitants. All the people we saw there are of great stature.

But if the Lord does something entirely new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up along with all that they have, and they go down alive to the grave, then you will know that these men have despised the Lord!”

because they bring trouble to you by their treachery with which they have deceived you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, who was killed on the day of the plague that happened as a result of Peor.”
