Now that very day two of them were on their way to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.

In those days Mary got up and went hurriedly into the hill country, to a town of Judah,

Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times returns to you saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”

Now when the days drew near for him to be taken up, Jesus set out resolutely to go to Jerusalem.

but (because they assumed that he was in their group of travelers) they went a day’s journey. Then they began to look for him among their relatives and acquaintances.

At the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

She had lived as a widow since then for eighty-four years. She never left the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day.

After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.

Now about eight days after these sayings, Jesus took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up the mountain to pray.

Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, because it is impossible that a prophet should be killed outside Jerusalem.’

Won’t God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay long to help them?

that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.”

Now on the first day of the week, at early dawn, the women went to the tomb, taking the aromatic spices they had prepared.

but they urged him, “Stay with us, because it is getting toward evening and the day is almost done.” So he went in to stay with them.

And the child kept growing and becoming strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day he was revealed to Israel.

Rejoice in that day, and jump for joy, because your reward is great in heaven. For their ancestors did the same things to the prophets.

Then shouldn’t this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be released from this imprisonment on the Sabbath day?”

For just like the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.
