For I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You withdraw what you did not deposit and reap what you did not sow.’

There will be great earthquakes, and famines and plagues in various places, and there will be terrifying sights and great signs from heaven.

and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s business partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.”

Then he said to them, “Where is your faith?” But they were afraid and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him!”

So the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God!

For they did not dare any longer to ask him anything.

But they were startled and terrified, thinking they saw a ghost.

The women were terribly frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?

Now there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon who was righteous and devout, looking for the restoration of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

Then some soldiers also asked him, “And as for us – what should we do?” He told them, “Take money from no one by violence or by false accusation, and be content with your pay.”

When the woman saw that she could not escape notice, she came trembling and fell down before him. In the presence of all the people, she explained why she had touched him and how she had been immediately healed.

“And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth nations will be in distress, anxious over the roaring of the sea and the surging waves.

“But be on your guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day close down upon you suddenly like a trap.
