When some of the bystanders heard it, they said, “This man is calling for Elijah.”

But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised!”

They also had a few small fish. After giving thanks for these, he told them to serve these as well.

This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?”

This was the first registration, taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.

“To what then should I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like?

Then the Jewish leaders were astonished and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?”

But this rabble who do not know the law are accursed!”
