But Jesus perceived their deceit and said to them,

But he said to them, “How is it that they say that the Christ is David’s son?

And all the people came to him early in the morning to listen to him in the temple courts.

They were talking to each other about all the things that had happened.

When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?’”

Besides all this, a great chasm has been fixed between us, so that those who want to cross over from here to you cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.’

Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.”

to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, a descendant of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary.

Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with a man?”

as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

They said to her, “But none of your relatives bears this name.”

Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone.’”

Then he began to tell them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read.”

But they were filled with mindless rage and began debating with one another what they would do to Jesus.

That is why I did not presume to come to you. Instead, say the word, and my servant must be healed.

He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from one town after another, he spoke to them in a parable:

(Now about five thousand men were there.) Then he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.”

But Jesus said to him, “Do not stop him, for whoever is not against you is for you.”

As they were walking along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”
