The young man said to him, “I have wholeheartedly obeyed all these laws. What do I still lack?”

All these evils come from within and defile a person.”

The man said to him, “Teacher, I have wholeheartedly obeyed all these laws since my youth.”

So also you, when you see these things happening, know that he is near, right at the door.

When they heard this, all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage.

Instead, pursue his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

So he called one of the slaves and asked what was happening.

The Pharisees (who loved money) heard all this and ridiculed him.

The man replied, “I have wholeheartedly obeyed all these laws since my youth.”

But when the man heard this he became very sad, for he was extremely wealthy.

After Jesus had said this, he continued on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

For if such things are done when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

Wasn’t it necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”

These things happened in Bethany across the Jordan River where John was baptizing.

Nicodemus replied, “How can these things be?”

After this there was a Jewish feast, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Now because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began persecuting him.

After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (also called the Sea of Tiberias).

When he had said this, he remained in Galilee.

When he had said this, he shouted in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
