Now an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

So Jesus asked the experts in religious law and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”

Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times returns to you saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”

Then another slave came and said, ‘Sir, here is your mina that I put away for safekeeping in a piece of cloth.

saying, “If you had only known on this day, even you, the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house will be a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of robbers!”

And in the same way he took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet not my will but yours be done.”

And after about an hour still another insisted, “Certainly this man was with him, because he too is a Galilean.”

So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” He replied, “You say so.”

Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God and said, “Certainly this man was innocent!”

that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.”

But Jesus rebuked him: “Silence! Come out of him!” Then, after the demon threw the man down in their midst, he came out of him without hurting him.

and sent them to Jesus to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”

When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?’”

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner.”

But other seed fell on good soil and grew, and it produced a hundred times as much grain.” As he said this, he called out, “The one who has ears to hear had better listen!”

Once when Jesus was praying by himself, and his disciples were nearby, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

Returning home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, telling them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost.’

The tax collector, however, stood far off and would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, be merciful to me, sinner that I am!’
