They began to salute him: “Hail, king of the Jews!”

The inscription of the charge against him read, “The king of the Jews.”

When some of the bystanders heard it they said, “Listen, he is calling for Elijah!”

“If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a huge millstone tied around his neck and to be thrown into the sea.

Then they came to Jerusalem. Jesus entered the temple area and began to drive out those who were selling and buying in the temple courts. He turned over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves,

So the Pharisees went out immediately and began plotting with the Herodians, as to how they could assassinate him.

Just as Jesus was getting out of the boat, a man with an unclean spirit came from the tombs and met him.

Those who had seen what had happened to the demon-possessed man reported it, and they also told about the pigs.

Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came up, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet.

Others said, “He is Elijah.” Others said, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets from the past.”

And they saw that some of Jesus’ disciples ate their bread with unclean hands, that is, unwashed.

For from within, out of the human heart, come evil ideas, sexual immorality, theft, murder,

Immediately he got into a boat with his disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha.

And Jesus ordered them, “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod!”

Some people standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”

Many spread their cloaks on the road and others spread branches they had cut in the fields.

They devour widows’ property, and as a show make long prayers. These men will receive a more severe punishment.”

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus into their hands.

He said to them, “It is one of the twelve, one who dips his hand with me into the bowl.
