because this son of mine was dead, and is alive again – he was lost and is found!’ So they began to celebrate.

“Now his older son was in the field. As he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing.

But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’

For just like the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.

Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this household, because he too is a son of Abraham!

All were speaking well of him, and were amazed at the gracious words coming out of his mouth. They said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”

Demons also came out of many, crying out, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

As he approached the town gate, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother (who was a widow), and a large crowd from the town was with her.

For whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

“I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before God’s angels.

They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

I tell you, he will give them justice speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” – he said to the paralyzed man – “I tell you, stand up, take your stretcher and go home.”
