Every firstling of a donkey you must redeem with a lamb, and if you do not redeem it, then you must break its neck. Every firstborn of your sons you must redeem.

They judged the people under normal circumstances; the difficult cases they would bring to Moses, but every small case they would judge themselves.

And now, if you will diligently listen to me and keep my covenant, then you will be my special possession out of all the nations, for all the earth is mine,

and all the people answered together, “All that the Lord has commanded we will do!” So Moses brought the words of the people back to the Lord.

Now Mount Sinai was completely covered with smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire, and its smoke went up like the smoke of a great furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently.

“I will send my terror before you, and I will destroy all the people whom you encounter; I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.

According to all that I am showing you – the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings – you must make it exactly so.

When all the people would see the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, all the people, each one at the entrance of his own tent, would rise and worship.

After this all the Israelites approached, and he commanded them all that the Lord had spoken to him on Mount Sinai.

So all the skilled people who were doing all the work on the sanctuary came from the work they were doing

the bases for the courtyard all around, the bases for the gate of the courtyard, all the tent pegs of the tabernacle, and all the tent pegs of the courtyard all around.

So all the work of the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, was completed, and the Israelites did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses – they did it exactly so.

And take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and sanctify it and all its furnishings, and it will be holy.

For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, but fire would be on it at night, in plain view of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

So the people spread out through all the land of Egypt to collect stubble for straw.

Frogs will come up against you, your people, and all your servants.”’”

Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he had said.

God spoke all these words:

“Whoever has sexual relations with a beast must surely be put to death.
